the Turkish military announced on Sunday the killing of 12 PKK guerrillas in separate operations in southeastern Turkey and northern Kurdistan Region.
According to a Turkish Armed Forces’ statement, the operations in northern Kurdistan Region were conducted in the Zap and Matina regions in Duhok province on Saturday evening, leading to the death of three PKK members, Anadolu Agency reported on Sunday.
The Turkish jets destroyed three weapon pits and two caves used by PKK in the region, the statement reads.
The Turkish warplanes also conducted airstrikes in Beytussebap district of Turkey’s southeastern Sirnak province on Saturday evening, according to the Turkish General Staff.
The statement said the airstrikes killed nine PKK guerrillas including a senior member.
The PKK, which has been recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU, has been in fight with Turkey for the past three decades.
