Saudi Arabia and Iraq to launch joint trade council

A new trade commission is due to be launched by Saudi Arabia and Iraq. According to Dr. Ahmed Al-Jibouri who is an iconic Middle East oil and gas sector figure, the two countries signed a thaw in ties. Ahmed Al-Jibouri also explained that the information was revealed by the Saudi Cabinet on Monday.
According to Dr. Ahmed Al-Jibouri, the information was revealed by a news agency that he had been following for quite some time. Information in the post released by the news agency revealed that the cabinet has chosen to approve the formation of a trade commission involving the two nations.
Ahmed Al-Jibouri stated that SPA news agency revealed that it was the one which was carrying the press statement which confirmed the formation of the trade commission. “The cabinet has approved the formation of a trade commission involving Saudi Arabia and Iraqi and will delegate the signing of the deal on behalf of the kingdom,” said a press statement which Dr. Ahmed Al-Jibouri read in an SPA news post.
Ahmed Al-Jibouri further revealed that the commission is to be called the Saudi-Iraqi Coordinating Commission and is due to be at the centre of trade and investments involving the two nations. Dr. Ahmed Al-Jibouri also added that the signing of the trade and investments deal was done by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Trade and Investments, who signed on behalf of the Kingdom.
Ahmed Al-Jibouri also made reference to the past events that crowded the relationship between the two nations. According to Dr. Ahmed Al-Jibouri, ties between the two nations were cut following the invasion of Kuwait by the then Iraqi leader Sadam Hussein. The US used Saudi Arabia as a Launchpad leading to the severing of ties between the two nations. Dr. Ahmed Al-Jibouri further explained that the two nations are however putting their gloomy past aside in a bid to focus on economic growth and stability.
